What If Starting a Biz Is Not For Me?
Hey everyone, life has been busy and I am back in Singapore — finally!
I was having a conversation with a good friend of mine. During the conversation, I recalled my past.
At a very young age, I knew I wanted to get into the business. I drew up the floor plan of my restaurant, operation plan, and marketing plan. However, I soon realised that managing people is not my forte. It is tough being an entrepreneur.
If my business does not perform well, perhaps, I can get back 40-50% of the liquidation value. Or if my business becomes regulated, my business performance may be adversely affected.
Then I stumbled upon this thing called stock market. I had a big “eureka” moment. In the stock market, there are literally thousands of businesses available for sale. Yes, you could buy them by being a minority shareholder.
To grow my wealth, I decided to choose the best entrepreneurs that I can partner. I invest in their businesses. If they turned out to be not so good, I can choose to liquid it with low risks and buy into another industry. It offers me unprecendented flexibility as compared to being an entrepreneur.
Since then, I’ve gotten a lot more knowledge analysing a lot of companies and growing more empathy after reading their business stories.
Hence, since 5 years ago, I became an investor and I have no regrets! Learn how to value invest! It is the biggest business opportunity out there.
